Supporting Faculty

Dr. Kim Dej began her term as Vice-Provost, Teaching and Learning on July 1, 2022.

Previously, Dr. Dej served as acting Vice-Provost, Faculty. As Vice-Provost, Teaching and Learning, she is tasked with enhancing the quality of teaching both within and beyond instructional spaces, as well as the implementation of McMaster’s first teaching and learning strategy, which Dr. Dej helped create.

Dr. Matheus Grasselli began his term as Deputy Provost on July 1, 2022.

Dr. Grasselli was Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics for four years, has served as acting director of the School of Computational Sciences and Engineering at McMaster and as Deputy Director of the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences in Toronto, the premier mathematical sciences institute in Canada.

Barrington Walker is an accomplished scholar and leader of the Equity and Inclusion Office (EIO).

He is responsible for guiding inclusive excellence and leading the development and implementation of institution-wide strategic equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) priorities. As leader of the EIO, Walker oversees various programs and services including, Human Rights and Dispute Resolution, Inclusion and Anti-Racism Education, the Accessibility Program and Sexual Violence and Prevention Response.

Beverly Jacobs (Mohawk Nation, Bear Clan of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy) is a nationally recognized scholar, advocate and leader appointed as McMaster University’s inaugural Vice-Provost, Indigenous, with a joint appointment in the Faculty of Social Sciences. She previously served as an associate professor and senior advisor on Indigenous relations at the University of Windsor and led a 22-year law practice in her home community of Six Nations. Jacobs is a former president of the Native Women’s Association of Canada and a Member of the Order of Canada, known for her impactful work advancing Indigenous research, education and advocacy.

Dr. Bonny Ibhawoh brings more than 30 years of teaching and research in the fields of Global Human Rights, Legal History, Peace/Conflict Studies in Europe, Africa, and North America.

The Vice-Provost (International Affairs) is responsible for providing strategic leadership for McMaster’s international portfolio, including developing strategic partnerships to enhance research, growing the university’s international presence and profile, and aligning international student recruitment strategies.

Dr. Steve Hranilovic is ranked among the world’s top 2 per cent of scientific experts, according to a database published by Stanford University and Elsevier.

The vice-provost and dean of graduate studies is responsible for fostering innovation, leading the expansion of interdisciplinary offerings and for enhancing the recruitment of graduate students among other duties.
