Graduate student funding is a challenge for students and for universities across Canada. At McMaster, Graduate Council voted in February 2023 to approve the launch of the Task Force on Graduate Funding to better understand the issue.

The group, which is chaired by the Vice-Provost and Dean of Graduate Studies, includes six students, six Faculty Associate Deans and the Deputy Provost.

To help Task Force members become more familiar with the university’s budget model and with the sources of graduate funding, McMaster’s Provost and Vice-President (Academic), Susan Tighe, delivered a presentation to Task Force members on April 3, 2023.
