McMaster Libraries Budget Review report released
A recently completed review of the McMaster Libraries Budget Review highlights the clear, deep strength of our library employees and highlights the strong service they offer to our students, researchers, faculty and staff.
The reviewers, which included two external members and one internal, were invited by the provost to attend McMaster for a two-day site visit review process on February 5 and 6. Over that time, the review team met with several campus stakeholders, including numerous employees from both the University Library and Health Sciences Library,
The report highlights areas of alignment between our University Library and Health Sciences Library, and focuses on five key areas: Organization, Budget and Staffing, Collections, and Capital Needs.
“I often say that we are ‘One University’ with shared goals, and this document is a perfect example of this,” said Susan Tighe, McMaster’s Provost and Vice-President (Academic).
“Reflected within its pages are highlights of natural alignment between our University Library and Health Sciences Library, and the promise of how shared financial and staffing resources could complement and enhance how best to support teaching and learning, research and student success.”
A small planning team from University Library, the Health Sciences Library and the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) will be struck to map out a high-level pathway forward for consideration by the Provost and the Dean and Vice-President, Faculty of Health Sciences, by August 31, 2024.
The McMaster Libraries Budget Review report can be found on the Office of the Provost’s website.
