Welcome to Introduction to Generative AI for Undergraduate Students! 

This online module is an extension of McMaster’s Guidelines on the use of Generative AI for Teaching and Learning!

Topics include what generative AI is, what can/can’t generative AI tools do, how to use generative AI tools, and how generative AI is changing how we work.The module aims to provide you with an understanding of generative AI to help you think through how these technologies intersect with your learning. Whether you have reservations or are enthusiastic about AI, “Introduction to Generative AI for Undergraduate Students” offers a space for exploration and thoughtful consideration. 

Topics include what generative AI is, what can/can’t generative AI tools do, how to use generative AI tools, and how generative AI is changing learning.  

 Intended Learning Outcomes 

 By the end of this module, you should be able to: 

                    • Recognize the differences in Generative AI models and tools and how they can and can’t be used for learning. 
                    • Use a Generative AI tool to complete a learning task.
                    • Consider ways in which generative AI could impact your learning.
