Join us for a full-day, in-person orientation designed to support new academic Chairs and Directors as they begin their leadership roles. The session will feature expert-led presentations and interactive discussions on key topics, with opportunities for peer connection. Topics will include:

• Understanding Your Role and Responsibilities

• Fostering Departmental Well-Being

• Accessibility and Accommodation: Guidance for Chairs & Directors

• Guiding your Department Through the Evolving Landscape of Generative AI

• Budget Model Insights

• Supporting Graduate Student Success: Introducing GEMS (Graduate Excellence, Mentorship, and Supervision)

• Building Effective Partnerships with HR, Legal, and Employee Relations

A continental breakfast, lunch and light refreshments will be provided.

Open to department chairs and program directors who have recently stepped into their roles (within their first three years).
